Recording a copy-protected DVD

This article explains how to save protected DVDs to your computer with the DVD Ripper view.

Restriction: While the recording is running, your screen is blocked to avoid any failures and glitches in the output file. You cannot use your computer while the recording is running.

Copy-protected DVDs are saved by re-recording them. Re-recording means the DVD is played back in full length and recorded from your screen's output.

Recording copy-protected DVDs with Audials One is legal, since the re-recording method does not "crack" the copy-protection mechanism or tamper with it in any way.

To record a copy-protected DVD

  1. Switch to the DVD Ripper view.
  2. Insert the DVD to be recorded into your DVD drive. When the DVD has been read in, the Next button becomes activated.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Click Start copying. From now on your screen will be blocked to avoid disturbance.
  5. Follow the instructions given by the assistant.
As soon as the recording is finished, the output file will appear in the Player.
